What is the Gauntlet II?
The Gauntlet II is Los Angeles' favorite leather / levi's / bear / bdsm men's bar. It is an ample, darkly lit, industrial space with 2 newly felted pool tables, 2 bars, patio, and chain cobweb for getting tortured on. The forward thinking management responded when I approached them about doing a women's night in a very male dominated space.
How long have wednesdays been goin' on?
Since July 2004.
Why is this night different than all the rest?
Well, it is unique for ladies nights in Los Angeles because it sports a gritty, underground style and attracts a clientele comfortable with their sexuality and love of liquor. It's Wednesday night! Also, hardcore gay men's porn plays on the monitors, you won't find that in other lesbian nights...
Who comes?
Rocker chicks, bicycle gang members, tranny dudes, bear fags, straight girls, SF and NY expats, fashion models, rock stars and famous photographers, actors from the L Word, lezzies rich and poor.
What kind of music?
Ranging from classic rock, ass breaking electro, top of the pops, 80's, new wave, dark wave, ghetto schmetto. Good stuff.
What is craft night?
It happens on the first wednesday of the month, JP the Craftcaptain takes over the front bar and leads people in craft projects like potato prints, leather pocket protectors, mother's day gifts, etc. It sounds cheezy but it's refreshingly fun and she's a talented leader.
